I have been writing (predominantly fiction) for as long as I can remember. My first story was a terrible and shameless rip off of Black Beauty and it was typed on an old DOS computer in my basement when I was in grade 4. Prior to that, I did a picture book about a penguin who liked “Swiiiiiiiiiiiimming”.
And from these humble beginnings… an author was born.
THE ADVENTURES OF BEDDIGAN T. MOUZE
Several partial novels and many completed short stories later, an idea popped into my dreams and The Adventures of Beddigan T. Mouze was born.
Going on 4 years of writing this story, I have completed 3 full volumes, having published Volume 1 in paperback and eBook form. (You can get a free ebook copy of Volume 1 here!)
Volumes 2 and 3 are still available for free on the website, and Volume 4 will debut in January 2020. Each chapter is published weekly, so you get to come along with the story as it unfolds.
Volume 1 Synopsis
Strange things are occurring… and the world around Beddigan is changing.
Everyone back home thinks him dead, and it has been much time since he was a member of Her Majesty’s Royal Sapphire Brigade.
Beddigan T. Mouze had been living the Adventurer life for many turnings. A Hero for Hire, he had been travelling around the free Republic of Katheyra, making a life for himself, far across the Lorring Sea from his homeland of Illensdar.
The life and people he had left behind haunted him still, despite how long it had been since he had donned the uniform of Her Majesty’s Royal Sapphire Brigade. He kept himself busy in an effort to block out the memories… that is until he reunited with former Adventurer buddy, and dear, dear friend, William Bearhelm.
William has a problem that only Beddigan can help to solve, and thus begins their series of Adventures, each more peculiar and threatening than the last. Can Beddigan keep himself together while the state of the world changes around him? Has his past finally caught up to him? Only time will tell…

Outside of my work writing Beddigan’s adventures, I also have a separate blog where I post other writing things, past projects, excerpts, poems, etc. which you can find here.
In addition to all of that writing stuff, I also began participating in NaNoWriMo in 2015, and have completed a piece of work most years since.
My NaNoWriMo project in 2015 was a Romance story, titled On The Edge of the Limelight, that I had begun writing 2 years prior. I leapt at the chance to use the magical container that is NaNoWriMo to finish the project, and ended up getting over 70,000 words completed in 30 days.
The following January I completed the book, and did my first revision of the draft, before sending the manuscript out to Beta readers. And then I let it sit. For 3 years.
But I do have some space for the second draft revisions, & incorporating my Beta reader feedback in the new year. So, fingers crossed!
For NaNoWriMo 2016, I completed Volume 3 of The Adventures of Beddigan T. Mouze in advance of its weekly release.
Up until that point, I had written the weekly update (for Volumes 1 & 2) usually just the weekend before I released each chapter on the website. It was a fantastic experience and really changed how I craft the story and world that Beddigan lives in.
With Volume 4 being just around the corner, I think I’ll use this model again to further serve the overaching story.
And for the last NaNoWriMo that I participated in, which took place in November 2017, I completed a project that has to be my single greatest accomplishment as a writer: I finished a novel that was my first foray into both novel-length fiction, and fantasy writing, that I began writing 10+ years ago.
I am not a woman who cries often, but when I typed the last sentence on November 20th, 2017, I wept. It is something that has been hanging over me for many years, so much so that I had created walls upon walls around it, never letting myself work on it again. Having a proper, complete, well-plotted and developed first draft is absolutely amazing to me. I still can’t believe it sometimes!
Now to get it revised and with beta readers. Onward!
