You’re not an influencer, and you don’t want to be one… but you’d love to sell books like one. You’re not alone here. In fact, you’re in good company!

I’ve worked with many successful authors, including three different self-published books with Hiro Boga.

If you know anything about Hiro, you know she’s absolutely not online or on social media much at all.

She doesn’t do any video.

And, she’s not too keen to do any of the traditional social media marketing practices marketing gurus tell her she must do.

Despite all of that, we were still able to get bestseller status for her books, as well as win prestigious awards, like the IPPY for To Be Soul, Do Soul, which was entirely accomplished with simple strategic marketing posts on social media.

Why Does Social Media Marketing Feel So Impossible?

Social media marketing can take a lot of energy, and I totally understand not wanting to hitch your wagon to that horse. But ignoring social media entirely is absolutely not the right course of action for selling books.

The real root cause here of social media dislike is fear of visibility (more than anything else), as well as fear of burnout.

A Helpful Reframe

I think the important reframe here is that a successful marketing strategy is strategic in both the marketing itself, as well as what it takes from you, the one creating the content.

So, a true strategic marketing plan takes into account the fact that you don’t want to be visible on social media 24-7-365.

It is absolutely possible to successfully market your books on social media without spending all of your time creating content, jumping on trends, and doing what everybody else says you should do.

Actionable Next Steps

I’ll leave you with a very simple, actionable step: consider which social media networks you actually like, as a consumer, and how often do you think you could create a piece of content for that platform.

Not every platform. Not every day. Create a realistic posting structure that you can consistently stick to. (ei. 3 posts per week on Instagram.)

Ready to get started on a sustainable social media marketing plan? It doesn’t have to be complicated or intimidating! I’ll show you how and you’ll create it yourself in this PDF Workbook.
